Lexington Reservoir 2200 foot By-pass Tunnel

The Lexington Reservoir project with FCI Constructors has been a challenging project because of the location of the tunnel and the reservoir.

The trucks have had to drive down the steep service road on the dam in order to access the portal for the tunnel. Not only has the delivery of concrete been challenging, but Central Concrete had to design a mix that would pump 2,200 feet and achieve a strength of 1,000 psi @ 10 hours.

Our Technical Services Department was able to find a balance between pumpability and early strength allowing the contractors to stay on schedule for the water district.
