SUMMARY:
We're looking for top quality individuals interested in joining our delivery driver team in South San Francisco Union Position with TOP PAY, benefits, 401K plan, Stock Purchase Plan Class A or B License required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Necessary for the performance of the job
- Possess valid, unrestricted Class A or B California Driver's License with current physical examination card. Class A license is required for semi-trailers.
- Have a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to climb into and out of the cab of a Ready-mix truck without assistance. Requires range of motion to the first step to the cab, which may be 20+ inches from the ground with a second step of 16 inches and a final step of 12 inches. Surfaces are stepped down to and up from will be varied from uneven ground to even surfaces depending upon the job site.
Frequency of activity - several times during the workday.
- Must be able to climb ladder up the side of a Ready-mix truck without assistance to visually determine that the slump on the tag is the slump in the drum. Requires range of motion involving: Height of first step from ground is approximately 17 inches. Height of each step is approximately 12 inches each with several steps. Bending at the waist at top of ladder to view load.
Frequency of activity - frequently during the workday. At the plant and each job site the activity may occur several times.
- Must be able to carry bags of additives or pigment that will be added to the materials in the drum of the truck. Weights will vary from 25 to 50 pounds. The bags may be carried by hand up the ladder on the side of the truck. Distance that these bags will be carried will vary up to 50 feet.
Frequency of activity - will depend upon the load being delivered and will vary from day to day.
- Must be able to pick up and carry a 45 to 50-pound chute extension, which is stored on the truck 43 inches from the ground, carry it 33 feet to the back of the truck, and hook it on and off the main chute for pouring of concrete activities.
Frequency of activity - will depend upon the particular job. May occur several times during the workday.
- Must be able to hand operate hydraulic controls that control water levels, speed of the mixer and the pouring of concrete.
Frequency of activity - several times during the workday.
- Must be able to pull and push hoses, chutes and hood of truck. The tasks associated with pushing and pulling are as follows:
- For hoses it is for washing and cleaning of truck and chutes as well
as adding water to drum.
- For chutes it is for maneuvering purposes to fulfill the requirements
of a pour.
- For the hood of the truck it is for inspection purposes with about 60
poundsof force required for opening.
Frequency of activity - hoses will be several times during the workday; chutes may be constant to several times during the workday; hood of truck will be at the beginning of the workday.
- Must be able to see and understand road signs; potential hazards on the road or at a construction site; and gauges and dials on a truck.
- Must be able to assist with clean up at work site or at plant - includes shoveling of concrete or other materials to appropriate vessel. Shovels may be provided by contractor at site.
Frequency of activity - throughout the day, from time-to-time as determined at the plant or job site.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read, write, verbally communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English. Must be able to locate job sites from maps or other documents.
- Must be able to verbally communicate directly with supervisors, co-workers and customers; using radio and/or telephone equipment with supervisors, co-workers and dispatchers; and with site personnel when making a delivery.
- Must be able to fill out forms for purposes of reporting information - truck readiness; incident reports; accident reports; delivery receipts; etc.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematics computations, including making change and calculating and determining slump.
- Must be available to work at flexible hours, day and night, as well as weekends.
- Must wash down truck and clean truck interior to maintain cleanliness and eliminate potential road hazards.
- Must be familiar Department of Transportation rules and regulations as well as State truck driving rules and regulations.
- Must maintain an on-time attendance work record.
- Must be able to take direction.
- Must be able to follow instructions.
- Must have the ability to work with others.
- Must have the ability to keep to a schedule.
- Must have regular and reliable attendance.
- Must have the ability to focus on details.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Truck Driving School or Apprenticeship program preferred.
- Telephone and radio communications experience.
- Concrete, Aggregate and Building products training preferred.
- Computer entry skills desired.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Ability to maintain good customer relations by giving polite and courteous service.
- Ability to get along with others.
- Ability to follow directions from supervisors and site managers.
- Operate a Ready-mix truck in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
FINAL NOTE:
There may be other duties that will be required in the course of the work that are not specifically set forth in this description, but are necessary to provide service to the customer or to keep production going at the plant.!
