COLORD CONCRETE GUIDELINES
Curing
The color of concrete will be less uniform and appear darker until it is completely cured.
ALL COLORED CONCRETE MUST BE CURED.
Improper curing will significantly decrease color uniformity. We recommend one of our color-matched, curing compounds. Follow the manufacturer's recommended procedures and apply with an airless sprayer.
Improper or heavy application may result in whitening, peeling, or a slippery surface. Protect the coated surfaces from damage by other trades and traffic.

Use
Use proper industry standard placing, finishing and curing techniques for an attractive, professional, uniform colored concrete appearance.
Central Concrete is not responsible for defects in concrete caused by improper placing, finishing, or curing.
We do not guarantee that colored concrete from different loads will match. Please use a color-matched curing compound when pouring colored concrete.
Planning for High Quality Colored Concrete
Use the same mix for all color sections of the project.
Try to place the entire project at one time when possible. When this is not possible, attempt to divide the project into sections where slight color deviations are acceptable.
Colored concrete loads of less than three cubic yards will not match intended color.
Never Cure With Water
Always cure colored concrete with curing compounds made for colored concrete.
Variations of color may occur from one load to the next. This is normal and should be expected.
Adding excessive water will cause variations in color.
Tips for Placing Colored Concrete
Placing colored concrete should be placed as close to its final position as possible to avoid segregation due to re-handling.
* If pumping; make sure all pump priming materials are pumped outside the placement area. Discard at least 2 wheelbarrows of colored concrete before placing in final position.
Place at a consistent slump throughout the pour; avoid the addition of water after discharge has begun.
Never place colored concrete onto a sub-grade that has freestanding water, is muddy, or has soft spots. Grade the sub-grade so that the concrete is of uniform thickness and is properly sloped for drainage.
Placing concrete in shaded areas may result in variations in color. This is normal and may subside over time.
Finishing
Only slip resistant textures should be used for concrete flatwork.
Finishing colored concrete surfaces should take place reasonably close to the sequence of placement.
Don't sprinkle water or add water to the surface while finishing.
Don't use long handle fresnos and minimize use of steel trowels to avoid trowel burns. Finish the edges first then hand-finish other surfaces in the same direction.
Use CONFILM to keep surface water from evaporating and reduce plastic shrinkage cracking, especially in hot, dry or windy conditions. Use an airless sprayer to apply CONFILM and colored concrete curing compounds.
